Looking forward to seeing a techdemo video. Interesting news.

Hmmmm, nothing about to port to PC games.
I was never interested in consoles and might never be.

Not at all. They're just trying to make their engine available to more platforms. Knowing how Crytek feels about the PC, I'm guessing we'll still be seeing the most advanced, and awesome games for the platform.
Awesome news all around!

and is this free?
CE3 is useless without Editor

It says it has its own editor in the article.
Unless you were talking about the Crysis Warhead editor, which is irrelevant to the CryENGINE 3.

Am I the only that thinks this a bad news?...for Xbox360? PS3? those are highly obsolete platforms... hmm I am smelling dumbing down the engine for multiformat purpose...if it'll be for next gen consoles then ok...but..now consoles cannot handle the CE2 on very high....so why CE3????.... I fear the worst...

To I Ali Cat I.
A PC:
A. Will be around MUCH longer than a console.
B. Is MUCH more advanced than a console.
C. Can be upgraded for newer hard/software rather than having to buy a whole new console.
PCs are MUCH better than consoles!

I guess this means Crysis 2 will be multiplatform.
As long as they don't dumb down the game or graphics for PC users, I'm OK with it.

Not sure what to make of this, but what about the editor and sdk for warhead? is this what you've been working on? or just the cryengine 3? I'm glad your moving forward but this is getting a little silly now guys, as you keep promising the sdk and editor but nothing seems to be coming our way. I'm not a lover of firms that go back on their word, as I've seen this all before. Either give us info on the sdk and editor for warhead or at least be honnest and tell us we aint getting it.

intresting
let me analyse on what i know:
they first said: cryengine 3 in 2012
now it will be on console, i dont think they designed it from ground up in like 1 year
so i bet its a ported and extended cryengine 2
no problems there and i would like to see a crysis MMO(note that WOW is a RPG-MMO) different things.
so this seems like a change of course.
now what about crysis 2: somebody in forums said that a company like crytek that isnt big should release at least 1 game a year to keep it up finanialy
so would that mean crysis 2 on cryengine 2.
2.9 or something) at the end of this year or begin 2010.
that seems logical to me. and next cryengine 4 combined with crysis 3 in 2011 or something???
seems like a reachable plan to me.
but well see how this will turn out out for crysis
edit: crysis 2 wont be multiplatform as the ENGINE 3 is CONSOLE ONLY
they would have to design a game on 2 engines. if CRYengine 3 was PC as well. then i would bet on crysis 2 begin multiplatform
edit2: they will release SDK and editor
if they WONT release it, crysis will die instantly and they will have an angry horde with miniguns at their gate'not releasing SDK will kil crysis, they know,we know.
dont worry im waiting for the editor to come. i rahter wait until it works. and that we have all the stuff(prefabs etc)

No DX11 support in 2012?...it will be 3 years from releasing of DX11 ? WTF is wrong with Crytek? F**k consoles...
|
|
11.03.2009
|
|
guys stop about dx11 and all the stuff
that they are making console games isnt a surprise and console programming requires other people than pc games.
this doesnt say anything about the new PC based engine
according to this i say they will have seperate pc, and console engines. and thereby no multiplatform games
or they must want to design a game on 2 different engines (fails)

so your just abondining your PC gaming creation skills and throwing them away? and if the consoles cant handle the previous engine, what makes you think they can handle THIS one
crysis to the consoles would break my heart... or would you be creating a new series entirely for the childish console gamers?
