Recently Crysis 2 Community Member "FToWnP1AyA" completed a speed run of Crysis 2.  His reason?  It simply had not been done before!  You can watch the full speed run below and read an interview we conducted with the man himself!

Why did you decide to do a speed run of Crysis 2?

I love this game from Crytek. I have played it many times already. It does not matter if I play Single-player or Multiplayer, I just have fun. The graphics, the engine and the possibilities to act with the game are great. After 6 months (since the game was released) I know everything about the game. I also searched for some speed-runs for Crysis 2 in YouTube and other websites, but I did not find anything. So that was my sign to create my own speed-run for Crysis 2. Also important for me was to create this speed-run with High Quality, so I used Fraps to record it in HD quality. Also the Sound is in high quality, too. The sizes of the video at the end were 8 GB compressed and 350 GB uncompressed.

How did you prepare for this?  Did you do any practice runs?

My limit was 3 hours for this speed-run, otherwise I would not upload it. So at first I tested all levels to find the best and fastest way. Then I tested to find sneaky and good ways without many Black Ops or Aliens. (Otherwise I need so long to kill them all.) It was important for me to play this speed-run without using any kind of cheats like “godmode” or “speedhacks”. After 3 weeks of testing I decided to start my speed-run.

Do you think it could be done any faster?

Yes! I did not skip any cinematic or flashback videos in-game, because I think that  people want to see all parts of the game. So if I would to this, this speed-run would be 30-40 minutes faster. I also died twice, which means that I could be 2-3 minutes faster. Overall, I think when I delete all videos, skip all cinematic and cut scenes, I could save up to 45 minutes.

 Were there any particularly tricky/scary points in the game where you thought you might fail or lose lots of time?

Yes, in level “Dark Heart” and “A walk in the park”. In Dark Heart, there are many aliens and it was not easy to destroy all spore veins without losing time, and I died there. But that is okay. In “A Walk in the park” It is tricky and lucky to find a way that no aliens will cover you. The AI is so good and clever, that you have to be very careful. Also the fight against the last 4 “special aliens” was a bit tricky. But I found my ultra extra super combination of shoot, armor mode and punch J! So it was easier in the end.

Do you have any plans for a Crysis 1 speed run?

No. I saw some videos about the speed-run in Crysis 1. Many people know the glitch that you are able to fly around. So the record I guess is around 45 minutes. It may not be impossible to beat it, but I do not like it this way.
