I can see what you mean Zez, but really, if it's for promotion, then really, trailers could take that part, adverts etc.
I know people use BETA's to get some people into the game, which is good for the developers, but that doesn't help the people who need to fix the game up.
Very true. As long as the bugs/glitches and exploits are caught, a beta is always a good thing though.
BETA isn't like BC2.
I think many people have forgotten what a BETA truly is. It's to test the game for bugs, and to see whether the functionality of the game works.
A BETA isn't where you play the game before release. That's called a DEMO. I'm hoping to be part of the BETA, but of course, if I'm not entitled to it, then there's nothing I can solely do about it.
I think a lot of people will be disappointed with who gets picked. Either way, Crytek is the one who will be hand-picking the people to participate in it. I can assume Crytek will choose the right people.
BlackOp8XI, stop spamming. I doubt you'll get in.
lol, you actually think post counts will count towards anything? And I wasn't spamming, I was just saying how I felt about this thread in 3 simple words. Its the same **** every thread I read

Not post counts, but the quality of each of your posts is what matters.
BLAH BLAH BLAH, isnt really a quality and constructive post. If you dont have valuable input before a beta is released, then what makes Crytek think that you will have valuable input if you get into a beta?
The purpose of a beta has turned into a couple different things over the years. The main purpose is to test the functionality of the game, and to find bugs and glitches. Recently though, developers have stopped making demos and have focused solely on an advertising beta (preorder for beta, etc).
There is no need to argue back and forth what a beta is meant for, because it is the companies choice what the beta should accomplish. Whether Crytek wants a discreet beta to just find bugs and glitches, or a massive beta to advertise the game, is up to them.

Makes sense, still though, I'd like to test out the game that I know I'm going to buy. I'd like to trust others with thier opinions on what should be fixed, but it's always good to test it out yourself.
Beta's are always good for games though, hell if some other games had it, there wouldn't be issue of everyone exploiting a glitch, and no one would have to deal with it with the full game (*Javelin Glitch*).
Either way, can't wait for the chance to play the beta possibly, or to get the game.

Post subject: I made no dictates in this Posted: 07 31, 2010 /11:56 |

I made no dictates in this thread, I simply quoted a fellow gamer, to point out to the many people on MyCrysis who expect and demand Beta, and we have seen this countless times in the large volume of,
(Wheres my Beta key),,,(Give me Beta)...( I didnt get my Beta )
Such threads have been repeated over and over, unlike this topic, that has hardly been touched on at all by comparison, and is simply intended to point out that Beta is not a garantee, costs you nothing, and will have problems, and constructive feedback is expected.
I have recently been involved in a Beta and the kind of mindless rants and rages given, far outway any constructive feedback, a situation that is ever growing, these people didnt pay for the Beta, and behave in a totally unreasonable manner.
This sort of thing could easily lead to different marketing strategy, likely akin to the older way of a site, where you have to complete detailed forms just to get the Beta, another possability is NO BETA, just demos,
I would hope that all those who want to participate in this Beta get that chance, and if this topic upsets anyone, no offence but deal with it.
:D
Playing a game for yourself and finding it fun is way more effective then any trailer could ever be ;) And no dev would miss this extra ad possibility. Secondly, it can serve as both bug fixing and advertising action. Some people will still report bugs, other will just have fun and buy the game later perhaps.
Hmm, never thought of that way. I guess you're right. If it gets new people into the game along with fixing the game for bugs, then I can see no problem with it. Thanks for giving some sort of image to me. :)

If it's the same "****" you read in every thread, why did you post? If you ask me, why did you even bother? You just wasted about 5mins or whatever amount of time you did to make that post.
By the way, our posts are being tracked. So whatever you say may or may not jeopardize your chance in the BETA (If you're interested in the BETA, that is ;) ).

That makes me happy, that is how a beta SHOULD be done in my opinion. I would expect most of the crymodders and the guys still active from here to get in. :) I just hope that there will be enough beta testers in North America, because i dont want to be playing alone. :'(
Im still wondering what gamemode and what map Crytek will choose for the beta. :D hmmm... Maybe Capture the Flag on Central Station? That would be S|CK.

... Which is why I'm glad Crytek are hand picking the right people. I hope that's what Crytek are doing at least. :P
But even if not, I hope the Beta does get off though, I'm cunningly looking forward to what the next months bring. :)
