Post subject: Crysis 2 PC Patch 1.9 FAQ + Known Issues
PostPosted: 06 21, 2011 /10:07

Where can I download the patch 1.9 for Crysis 2?
Patch 1.9 will download and install automatically when you launch Crysis 2.

I have patch 1.9 installed, but I cannot see the DX11 features – what do I need to do?
Patch 1.9 prepares Crysis 2 for DX11 features. In order to actually activate the DX11 features in Crysis 2 please download the DX11 package from here.

Where can I download the DX11 package?
As this is a purely optional download you would have to get it manually from here.

Where can I download the High-Res Textures package?
As this is a purely optional download you would have to get it manually from here.

What additional features does the optional DX11 package give me compared to patch 1.9?

With this package the following DX11 exclusive features will be activated automatically for Crysis 2:
- Tessellation + Displacement Mapping
- High Quality HDR Motion Blur
- Realistic Shadows with Variable Penumbra
- Sprite Based Bokeh Depth of Field
- Parallax Occlusion Mapping
- Particles Motion Blur, Shadows and Art Updates
- Water Rendering improvements and using Tessellation + Displacement Mapping

What additional features does the High-Res Textures package give me compared to patch 1.9?

With this package Crysis 2 will have higher resolution textures for many critical assets.

I have a low frame rate and/or stuttering after having DX11 and/or High-Res Textures packages installed on my machine – what can I do?
This largely depends on your hardware and software setup. Please make sure you meet the system requirements suggested in this FAQ. Additionally we recommend having your hard drive defragmented and your video drivers updated to the latest version.

If you have both packages activated, try running the game with only one enabled. It might be that your system cannot handle the increased hardware requirements.

Trying to lower the other available graphic options in the menu might improve the situation.

Can I turn off DX11 and/or High-Res Textures ingame?
To deactivate DX11, please navigate to “Options” and select “Disabled” for DX11
To deactivate High-Res Textures, please navigate to “Advanced Graphic Options” and select “No” for High-Res Textures.

What are the suggested system requirements for the DX11 and/or High-Rex Textures packages?

DX11 Package Specs
Minimum:
o DX11 compatible graphic card with 768MB Video Memory

High-Res:
Minimum:
o 64-bit Operating System
o DX9 compatible graphic card with 768MB Memory

Recommended:
o 64-bit Operating System
o Fast HDD or even SSD
o Quad Core CPU
o 8GB of RAM
o DX9 compatible graphic card with 1GB Video Memory

Having both installed and active:
Recommended:
o 64-bit Operating System
o Fast HDD or even SSD
o Quad Core CPU
o 8GB of RAM
o DX11 compatible graphic card with 1.5GB Video Memory

Which Crysis 2 version is required in order to install the DX11 and/or High-Res Textures packages?
To install any of the packages you would need to have Crysis 2 updated to version 1.9. You can download it from here.

Is there a specific order in which I need to install patch 1.9 and/or any of the optional packages (DX11 & High-Res)?
Once you have updated Crysis 2 to patch 1.9 you can install any of the optional packages in any order you like.

My game crashes with DX11/Hi-Res installed, why is this?
Due to the increased stress that these additional packages place on your system, this can cause unstable hardware to crash. If your system has an overclocked video card (factory or software) please try lowering the clock speeds to allow the graphics card to become more stable.

------------

Known Issues

1. NVidia graphic problems
- 1. Crysis2 may flicker on the SLI-enabled configurations having a GPU dedicated to PhysX (no matter if PhysX is enabled in NVIDIA control panel)
- 2. Scenes with rain layer show weapon corruption (dx9-only)
Status:
i. NVidia is aware of the issues and currently working on a new driver update

2. Low-End DX11 graphic cards
- 1. The Crysis 2 Ultra Upgrade is best experienced on high-end cards. Low-end cards will understandably see the frame rate decrease progressively, the more advanced options are enabled
Status:
i. It is recommended to lower specific settings to High or Very High only
ii. Also disabling DX11 and/or High-Res Textures can increase frame rate again[/list]

3. Optional package installation on Steam
- 1. Installing DX11 or High-Res package when 1.9 is installed
-- • Following error message will pop-up right after starting the installer (can be skipped and installation still finishes successful):
Image

- 2. Installing DX11 or High-Res package when Crysis 2 has version 1.8 or below
-- • Packages are tried to be installed into %AppFolder%
Image
-- • As it is no existing it will eventually fail with an error (installation cannot be completed)
Image

- 3. Installing DX11 or High-Res package when no Crysis 2 is installed
-- • The following happens if there is no Crysis 2 install at all (Steam or normal):
Image
-- • After that error it will continue to attempt to install the opt 1 patch to “%AppFolder%\Patch\dx11.pak” and then fail as well (installation cannot be completed)

4. We discovered an issue in which anisotropic filtering is disabled for DX9. We have a workaround for this problem though:
-- • Nvidia
1. Right-click on your desktop and go to Nvidia Control Panel
2. Under 3D Settings, go to Manage 3D Settings
3. Set Anisotropic filtering as desired (2x, 4x, 8x …)
-- • AMD
1. Right-click on your desktop and go to Catalyst Control Center
2. Under Gaming, go to 3D Application Settings
3. Set Anisotropic filtering as desired (2x, 4x, 8x …)

5. Launcher Error - 2MB Temp space
In some rare cases, if your temp drive has less than ~135MB of free space you may receive an error stating that "You must have at least 2MB of free space on your TEMP drive!". If you are receiving this error please try clearing some free space on your system (specifically the drive that your TEMP folder is located) and try again. If not, you could also try relocating your TEMP folder to another drive with more space.

Way to go, but 1.9 still isn't up. When can we expect it?

Also: Thanks for the FAQ. Recommended specs are appreciated, but more details (as in specific Quad Core CPU models and Dx11 compliant GPUs) would be really nice:

Like, say:
o Quad Core CPU (Intel i5 2300K or AMD Phenom II 965)
o Dx11 compatible card with 1.5GB Video Memory (nVidia GTX570 or AMD HD6970)
o etc...

good job folks, i'm so glad to have my crysis 2 patched before i go to bed. unfortunately i have to report a glitche.

the graphic corrupts... some strange strings string blinks in the middle of the screen all time and it looks like corrupted models' edge, sorry i failed to capture because its blinking...

my pc spec is
i7 920
gtx570 / 275.50 <-- beta driver i wish it could solve 1.8 graphic problem
6G ddr3
windows 7 pro x64
with 1.9 patch, hi-res patch and dx11 patch
in game setting is all extreme

with this setting, fps drops to 35fps avg, and even 20fps when i fire a weapon

Also, the microstuttering is back in all its former glory. This is indepent of graphical settings, dx11 on/off, and high res textures on/off.

Specs:
i7 920 @ 4.2Ghz
ATI HD6970 CrossFire (catalyst 11.6)

After patching to 1.9 and installing the dx11 pack the game doesn't work anymore.
When I try to start the game I have instantly the message like "crysis 2 has stopped working".
my system is
ATI hd 5850 catalyst 11.6
Asus p6t
intel core i7 920
6gb of ram
win 7 x64

edit: now i've installed also the texture pack, but the problem remains.
the log of windows is:

I'm having the exact same problem. I patched it to 1.9, checked and the game worked fine. Then I installed the DX11 patch and the game insantly stops working.

Any fixes would be greatly appreciated.

My system specs are:
GTX 580 3gb
i7-2600k
8gb ram
Windows 7 64-bit
