I just started using the shotgun and I usually am not paying attention to this particular weapon because if I am using a shotgun, its because I ran out of ammo and a nasty Ceth is in my face.
The shotgun firing animation or reload animation is very jerky and stuttering. I haven't seen this in any other gun but the shotgun specifically.
Despite purposely putting myself in a spot where I get above 120 fps on a 120 Hz monitor, it feels like the animation is running at 30 / 15 fps. Is there anyway we could get a fix for this maybe set it to Enthusiast graphics settings? I even tried it with Vsync On @ 120, and the same thing. I anticipate this is bug because all the others (I think, I will watch for it now) seem to be smooth, but I don't mean to criticize your game design if its intended that way.
Will try and add a simple video later of this with FPS counter.
I am so happy to see someone else has the weapon animation problem. I am glad it only applies to shotguns for you. Sadly, every weapon is afflicted by this glitch. All shooting animations for weapons is at about 15FPS if I had to guess. Reloading, however, is smooth. The game doesn't seem to slow down whne I'm firing either.
After I beat the game, I got tired of the annoying weapon stuttering and decided to uninstall the game, thinking maybe I messed up during the instillation somewhere.
Around 6/9/2012 I reinstalled the game, this time activating a digital copy of it over on Origin via my CD Key, hoping that by installing the game via downloading the game files digitally (not using the DVD), and having finally fixed a pervasive Catalyst Control Center problem with my graphics drivers, the stuttering firing animations would be resolved.
Unfortionately that is not the case.
I am praying for a bug fix for this issue. I don't think it's a very small problem either, firearms probably take up 10% of the screen for me, and since you see them all the time in a FPS game you want them to animate how the developers intended. It's evident that weapon animations were pretty important to the Crytek team here, seeing as most weapons have some unique fireing and expecially reloading animations for different suit modes. Armor mode has a pretty slick wrist slap pistol reload.
Anyway, I was glad to see someone else eloquitenly has a description of this bug that annoys me in a nice looking thread. Cheers and thanks Cryteam, if you ever get around to resolving this issue.
