Obviously this is going to be primarily from a speculative point of view considering both games have yet to be released and there is limited footage of BF3. However a few friends and I were in a debate of which game would have better graphics. I support Crysis 2! Crysis' reputation for steller graphics has been top of the line and I can't see BF3 beating it. What is your say?

I'd put my money on crysis 2 at this stage.

However, if bf3 does beat crysis 2, you won't hear me complaining.

Crysis 2 beats BF3 at the console department. While Battlefield 3 could beat Crysis 2 at the PC department :D

What i most fear is BF3 not end up as Crysis at it's time. Which lagged even on 8800GTX back then. If that happens then it's a no buy for me for the moment. I wont upgrade for a single game.

As of right now no console footage of BF3 has been shown, that was blatently PC footage in the trailer and it would be silly to compare the two as crysis 2 hasnt been maxed yet and BF3 is nowere near release.

My money is on Crysis, but BF3 won´t be far behind.

looks like for the PC, bf3 will definitely give crysis 2 a run. since i havent seen any pc footage besides the leaked version, its hard to judge. but leaked version vs bf3, id go with bf3.

finally, a game developed FOR the PC. Its been a while! look what we end up getting when they focus on the PC version... An awesome looking game, with all the features we would expect (minus mod tools).

BF3 has a 'pc first' mentality, and will win game of the year because of that. mark my words.

For Battlefield 3. It looks really good @ first sight but: we havent seen any closeups yet so we cant really judge about the texture quality and particle effects yet. Its like comparing some U3 Engine games to Crysis... The devil is in the details folks! Just go near some wall or fence and you will see the striking differences. But frostbite 2.0 will have the better physical destruction for sure.
But what really grinds my gears is that they claim that we will need Dx11 and a 64 Bit OS to max Battlefield 3 out..
the whole Dx10 generation cards ( especially the 200er series) would have no problem with BF3 performance wise.. but if they built it on dx11 exclusively.. they would bar out many potential customers.

Id bet money on Crysis 2 beating BF3. Crysis have allways been the king of graphics. BF:BC2 had ok graphics, nothing fancy;)

BF:BC2 had extremely weak textures even in high.. and thats what kinda ruined it for me as one of my personal favorites for 2010.
But i think its very difficult to have this kind of interactivity and destruction with objects and builidngs in a game and also use extreme high res textures at the same time.

I'm pretty certain that BF3 will have better graphics on PC than Crysis 2. I mean the fact they already moved on from DX9 to fully develope the game to DX11 and to DX10 while Crysis 2 is still more focused on the DX9. Also I think that I read somewhere that BF3 will be more system demanding than Crysis 2. But really, the both will have the top graphics, there's no doubt about that. I'd say that C2 will have better gfx on consoles compared to BF3 while BF3 will have better gfx on PC compared to Crysis 2.
