Think about it seriously for a minute. How many gamers found out about the whole GameStop Deus Ex fiasco, and will continue to shop there to get that quick fix? Gamers eat sh*t sandwiches everyday. We eat it up, and all we ask is that the we are provided a once of ketchup [patches and support post release]. With Crysis 2, we did not even get that once, and so my stomach churns, disagreeably.
I can't imagine downing yet another one of Crytek's heaping Stinkers. They can take this port to the bank, but they won't earn another cent from me.
What has Crytek done, or Crysis 2, specifically that deserves your unconditional "love?" Why is this love "unstoppable." If we don't start becoming more organized and discerning, companies will continue to operate as Crytek has because it's easier and more cost effective. I hereby call my fellow gamers to arms. We must must must boycott this title. Let us only play it if it can be stolen or purchased secondhand just to spite these bit*ches.
They merely created an environment I enjoy and that's the problem of becoming a fan of something. When something appeals to you. Like when a band releases a slew of amazing albums you love then start releasing **** ones but you still try to dig through and find the good songs; or just not even buy the crappy albums until they start writing good material again but you still like the band. I jumped on this game because I enjoy what has been created in the series. Not because it's just a shooter and I just needed my high lethality sci fi shooter fix. I am reading these forums because I am a fan and wanted to get involved in whatever is left of the community. So using me as an example of a gamer that is like a crackhead is null.
If you hate this game and Crytek so much then why do you still play it? Why did you get the game in the first place?
EA has pulled similar stunts like this too. One of the earliest stunts I remember is Command and Conquer Generals. It only got one expansion called Zero Hour back in 2003 and the game did not get any support shortly after that. People were raging back then at that too. The following game in the series came in 2007 and Command and Conquer fans were back at it in a new game in the series. That is the problem of fandom when a company does something half assed or something happens that makes the company that made it look like they did something half assed.
Crytek focuses on an open platform that is full of piracy already. Crysis 1 and all the expansions have been pirated extensively, just like C2, and FarCry, and they still keep making games for it. If they as a company would get their heads out of their asses and focus on multiplayer for their games we'd be having a very different experience right now. But they don't, they love their single player campaigns way too much to do that. Sadly.
And with Game Stop and Deus Ex. Yeah that was a dick move. They did how ever give all those people a $50 gift card and a buy 2 get 1 free game coupon. Which still doesn't make up for how they just took the games off the shelve in less than a day after release but they did something for those people at least. On hindsight though. They did also honor 15 year old Duke Nukem Forever reservations from a company they bought out years and years ago for console that wasn't even dreamed off at the time and could had easily dismissed as: "Sorry, we are not Electronics Boutique and we don't carry games for that console anymore so your reservation has no worth."
EA took Crysis 2 off Steam not too long after it came out for the same reason GS took off DE out of their stores on PC and didn't do anything at all for the people who bought the game on Steam.
