That's my profile in BF3. Example with M16A3, just move your mouse a little down while shooting. Then you will have no recoil, to speak about the accuracy. 20,7% is good.

You can fool yourself into thinking you're negating recoil by moving your mouse down, but if you keep spraying your bullet spread will be so huge that most of your bullets won't hit anyway - even with M16A3 which is one of the most accurate assault rifles.

And then there's suppression making bullet spread and recoil 10x worse. The latest patch somewhat tamed suppression BF3 still revolves around "take player's aiming skill and throw it out the window" along with a whole list of other things I'm not going to mention. If you hip-fire with an LMG while suppressed lets just say your bullets literally deviate 10-15 feet apart and you miss your shots even at point blank (<5 feet) range. And then there's the futility of trying to use a sniper rifle on medium-range maps where even the slighest suppression throws your bullet way off target.

Thanks to the poor netcode and hit registration, even playing at 30-40ms latency gets you shot around cover A LOT so trying to pull off close-combat is a massive, massive failure. It does everything a first person shooter shouldn't do.

Back on topic, I would say Crysis 2's recoil and bullet spread on most weapons is completely fine. There are far more important things to address first.

edit: Oh god can people believe this?

PC is the least played platform for BF3, a game which caters to PC with 64-player maps. What the hell.

They decreased the suppression effects. I do agree with all your claims though Zuvial. As for cooldud, been there, discussed that, not going back, haha.

Poor choice of time, usually there are more people playing BF3 PC than BF3 Xbox...

Wall of text incoming!

Nice video. I agree on some things, however here are my opinions, if you don't mind:
- Recoil: Increased recoil won't fix automatics. Increased health could fix them, along with cloak OPness and armour UPness. Players would be forced to aim carefully to compensate the high HP. Or, we could remove ADS and give weapons 100% hip-fire accuracy - just like in the old classics! Lastly, C2 has ADS, CS:S hasn't - it's a big difference, and recoil is a completely different thing without ADS.

- Cosmetics: No. No! NOO! NOOOOOOOO!1! I don't want Crysis 3 to become a war-themed hat simulator like Team Fortress 2. Also, it could be hard to discern friends and foes when they're all pink. Give us lots of dog tags instead (and two dog tag sides, one for a picture and the other for an emblem or something).

- Categorical limitation: Nope. This would be a pain to balance, especially when a 24/7 shotgun cloaker would take Stealth enhance, Covert ops and Blind spot at once - he'd simply bulldoze the enemy team. Same for a tank toting a LMG or HMG with Aim enhance, Rapid fire and either the module that increases max ammo (can't remember it's name) or Energy transfer. Anybody ''in between'' trying to be adaptive with an all around class would get utterly destroyed, because the OP classes' strengths would make it impossible for the ''adaptives'' to exploit their weaknesses. How about just splitting all modules (unsplittable ones can stay(the ones where upgrades improve the first effect)) into three separate ones and being able to have 2 from every of the 4 categories at a time. Yes, 4 - some modules should be moved to a new ''Tactical'' category(specifically the ones that affect the visor and the player's awareness).

+ Grinding: Yes, remove grinding. We should have all weapons, attachments and modules available from the start. Furthermore, nothing should be upgradeable in any way. We should be grinding only for assessments and got tags.

Whew! I guess that's it for now.

Also better chat, friend list management and better votekick system. It should be like in SS!

I agree but as I've stated often enough, this is highly unlikely.

@SDub:

The whole thing is worth a read especially if you're into RTSs, but the theory applies well to... any game really. In particular, scroll down to the last section where it mentions "Overzealous bug fixing" and you will see kinda what I mean.

More useful links on the subject of emergence in games:

Maybe something a little more Crysis-related: http://www.gamecritics.com/contrasting- ... the-future (though it strays a bit from what I was really talking about)
The point is, players should be encouraged to think of new ways to play the game, that maybe the developers didn't really intend. Circle jumping in Crysis Wars was unintentional but eventually it became an accepted part of the game. (though TBH I reckon circle jumping borderlines on exploiting...)

(Sorry for the wall'o'text)
