Post subject: Melee Not Triggering Issue Posted: 05 02, 2012 /12:09 |

I often find in sudden melee one on ones that my melee trigger doesn't register. Usually when an enemy appears suddenly and you are already at melee distance, pressing the assigned button on my mouse has no effect. Leaving me to get melee'd in the face and then look at my mouse wondering what just happened - then on respawn I click the 'melee' button and it appears to be working just fine.
In the past I figured that maybe my mouse wasn't up to the job, or had a slightly unresponsive button but I just got a new gaming mouse yesterday and the issue remains. Does any one else have this issue?

are u using the right mouse drivers? whats your mouse?
had problems with my mouse in the beginning of bf3. Solved it making an AHK script where my mouse was triggering a keyboard button instead of assigning the mouse directly

I'm using a Logitech G700.
Originally the mouse button was assigned to the default [v] key. I figured it could be an issue with keyboard ghosting so I assigned the 'melee' to [Left Control] and then mapped that to the relevant button in the mouse software. Doesn't seem to make a difference. I checked with a ghosting tool online to see if there were a combination of keys that my system wouldn't accept and there doesn't appear to be.

I find myself in the "almost" same spot. Melee is just not working sometimes for me. Do you know how many times I get meleed because MINE don't connect? True story.

Often I press melee, then nothing happens, and then I get the kill on the guy anyway

Yeah it could be just that the animation is'nt showing. When your in those frenzied 'melee' moments when you get caught unawares, I guess you're pressing a lot of keys - I've been messing about today and trying to emulate that situation. I've noticed that sometimes you get this weird animation like your character is trying to spin the gun 360.
I guess this is similar to when you use you Hologram and you press [2] sometimes it takes awhile for the animation to actually play. Other times your character seems to spaz out till you hit [2] again.
Still I'd like to know how common these things are. Maybe it's an issue with a lower powered CPU or an older generation platform.

I have the exact same issue. I have the Razor DeathAdder 3500 dpi edition and I have melee set to the 2nd additional mouse button. Get in with an enemy that's quick and my melee does nothing, leaving me standing there looking like an idiot in the kill cam. Spawn, melee works just fine. Friggin' hate that crap.

M4dn3ss wrote: Often I press melee, then nothing happens, and then I get the kill on the guy anyway Huh... figured it was just my computer, and didn't think to ask around (I'm running a pretty old machine). I get this effect quite often. At the same time, like others here, I swear I'm tapping (then downright hammering) on my melee key (config'd on my steelseries keyboard for me) and nothing happens except that I eventually get killed instead of the inverse. Guess we can add this to the list of 100+ bugs that Crytek like to ignore?

Nice topic,
In the meantime i used 4 different mouses for this problem. From Lazer Lachesis, CorsairM60, Lazer Deathadder and logitech mx9. The last one seems best for me, but still the problem accures(but not so much anymore), that sometimes indeed nothing happens during a push on the melee button. I pushed the lachesis buttons even so hard(melee), that the button went inside the mouse..... So its probably just a bug.

Same here with the G9x, but it happens very seldom. In my case it's more common that reloading or aiming down sights make no effect. I see my drivers are from april 2011 and last version is from october 2011, updating them isn't going to hurt...
