Post subject: Call of Duty Multiplayer - Skill-less luckfest? Posted: 08 14, 2012 /03:34 |

Do you guys think Call of Duty-style multiplayer games with low mobility and ridiculously low TTK (the time it takes to kill a player) are essentially skill-less and highly dependent on either ungodly reaction time or sheer luck to run into any given player from an advantageous position?
I never played actual Call of Duty multiplayers except for Call of Duty 2 which I barely remember.

Yes, the main reason for this is 1.the respawn system is broke......since they try to stop spawn camping by respawning the team on the other side you just have everyone spawning in different places so no really map flow is going on
that also does not let Team Work Holding lines since they can just come from the back at anytime...
2.No Team Work at all....the map nor the Feature really supports it much, They say that they are going to put Team work first in ops2 but just look at the gameplay....its the samething
trust me please dont support COD until they Fix Map issue, Balancing issue, and just plain out Feature.. let Cod take a Fall so it can Raise Great

Never bought any CoD, chillax guys. I'll try Black Ops 2 and see for myself, but I have previously never found Call of Duty attractive in any way.
Seriously though: In a 1v1 battle, the WHOLE thing depends on who sees who first! How does that take ANY skill? Like in Quake/Tribes/Unreal where you have to lead your shots (and calculate their trajectories if they are arc-weapons like the Bio Rifle) AND dodge enemy bullets mid-fight and it takes forever for either guy to die: The best gladiator wins!

Discuss. no dont try it, Rent it but buying dont... like i said on top it is...cause of map design, Respawn system, the Community Way of thinking, and game simple does not support Team work..... and now with Op 2 where people can see you though Walls now...Less Flow will happen i have played, dont make the same mistake and give 60$ to them if you have to try a COD....4 is the best

Not completely skill-less, as it is possible to be good or better than other people at it. But it makes it alot more determined by who sees who first and ofcourse connection. Making it frustrating for the hard-core style gamer.
If there is a "skill" involved, it is moving around the map in a way that exposes yourself to a minimum of dangers (very hard in alot of maps) but I agree there is very little skill in the actual aiming and shooting involved.
I recently had a go of black ops again, it has a slightly higher TTK than MW3 and that makes it much better, as it is not (as much) a who sees who first = gets kill game. hopefully black ops 2 will have a higher TTK again (probably won't tho)
I can see how CoD is the way it is tho, being the highest selling game. Most of the video game buying population doesn't have the time to invest in a game that requires a higher level of skill or familiarity with the game to get good results and have fun. They just want to jump on/off and not get ass raped by people who play 6 hrs a day.
I think CoD offers more to console gamers, than to PC gamer who have alot more choice with FPS games
Edit: I will also say one of the main reasons for my interest in blops 2 is the M8A1 assault rifle so closely resembling the crysis SCAR, and the fact you can attach a laser sight :) I'm hoping to be able to stack the inevitable steady aim perk and the laser for some highly accurate hipfire spraying. That way I can pretend I'm playing wars on my PS3

I like most of BLOPS2 i've seen so far. ESPECIALLY the Strike Force missions.
Dudes, I just played a couple matches of QuakeLive for the first time ever. Last time I played Quake 3 Arena I was like 10 or 11 years old.
SO. GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOD. MOST FUN I'VE HAD IN THESE 10 YEARS THAT HAVE GONE BY. DAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAYUM.
TTK and mobility guys. Two things pretty much every modern game lacks. Tribes has them, but the skiing mechanic makes it too hard to accurately react to enemy fire mid-fight. Quake 3 Arena (and QuakeLive) is just... Perfect. Brings tears to my eyes.

One of the cool things about blops1 was you could easily make custom games, adjusting some of the variables and the effect of the perks.
I didnt take advantage of this during the game's main lifecycle, but i recently rented blops 1 and made a custom game with much faster movement speed, reduced damage, unlimited sprint and tiny hip fire spread. ADSing was putting u at a disadvantage. Often took 1-2 reloads to put the enemy down in a gun fight. Felt like a completely different shooter. This is on PS3 btw.
I only got to play it 1v1 with another friend but it was alot of fun. Hopefully they wil have the same options in blops 2.

I admit I suck at COD, however, this is the thing: -Stupid host system I'm always ending up with 2 bars.. - _- -I fukin hate it whenever a hacker joins and you can't votekick them out, report is style apparently. -Noobtube is still OP. -The thing I don't like in all level systems in FPS is that, if you're level 50 and you play against level 20s or 10s or so on, not to your level at all, no challenge is there and also after that you play against pros you lose so much aim. -The map is so small that everytime in 20 seconds my team will be in the other side while I get shot in the back... - _- -455H0735 in the game piss me off and we can't yet again do anything about it... COD 4 was at least competitive however... Sadly, it sucks living in Dubai so I'm an official lagger, excluding counter strike.
EDIT: Black ops 2 looks the same again imo.. Just different maps and things here and there.
