Post subject: Crysis 1, my wife and me only Posted: 05 24, 2012 /06:03 |

I finally started to play Crysis, then talked my wife into playing, with the intent of the 2 of us playing Co-Op.. nothing more. I had the original Crysis 1 game, then bought the Maximum Edition so she could also play. What I originally tried was, installing the original on my PC, the M.E. Crysis 1 on her PC, then took that CD and installed it on an home backup server I built. I could never get the server to run the game (tried with the CD in the tray, but get nothing). Now comes the big question(s):
1. Can we play Crysis 1 Co-Op on our home network? 2. Since I have 2 legal copies of Crysis 1, do I still have to buy a 3rd copy just so I can run the game on my server (as opposed to my basic PC)? I would definitely prefer to use a PC meant to hold a game like this.
Thanks!

With all due respect JPC, my questions were not addressed. I have been to the moddb site, and that was what prompted me here to post. I had recently signed up at this site, and figured this was the best place to post the questions. I was hoping that someone out there had a setup much like my own (wanting to use a pc other than the pc I'm playing on). Thanks

Are you trying to set up a dedicated multiplayer server (crysis wars or crysis 1 multiplayer)?

Yes. I have my PC with my disc.. my wife is on her PC with her disc. I also have an HTPC PC that I have, which has a quad core with 8gigs of ram. I want to use the HTPC as the dedicated server.
Using my wife's disc, I installed Crysis on the HTPC, and then rebooted. I then installed the dedicated server software, and per the directions.. tried to start the game. I get nothing. The cursor spins for about 20 seconds, then stops. This is with the CD in the drive. I tried inserting the disc, and using the autorun to get Crysis to start, no go. I also tried to bypass the shortcut, and go directly to the folder and start it. Same thing.
All I'm trying to accomplish is to get the mod for Wars to allow co-op for my wife and I to play together on my home network. This is the only game she will play, hence my desire to get it running.
Thanks

In Task Manager, is the dedicated server actually running in the background?

Well, I uninstalled and reinstalled everything on the server PC. I now get to the point where I can start Crysis Wars (patched to 1.5), I then click on the dedicated server in the Crysis MP .. which shuts down Wars, and the Dedicated Server runs. I then restart Crysis Wars, and I see my network server now. I go to my pc, and do not see the dedicated server, however.. when I click on CONNECT TO IP, put the information in.. I get a Version Mismatch error.
I have been trying off and on for the last 2 nights to get into the server, but am running into the mismatch issue.
On my and my wife's PC the version is 1.1.1.6156 (both patched 1.2 and then 1.2.1) The server is version 1.1.1.6729 (patched from Crysis wars install to 1.5)

Interesting .. You should run the Dedicated Server through the "Crysis32DedicatedServer.exe", not through the menu in-game :P (I hope that's your mistake)

Good point CryNick.. I will give this a try in a day or so, and I will post the results as soon as I try loading up that way. Thanks...

I did get the game to run, but never on the PC I wanted to. I can not get WARS to run and accept either of us logging in.
Actually, I didn't press too much. especially since co-op isn't an option. I am currently looking for another game that we can play, but I do want to say thanks for the help!
