Post subject: Need some help with Mirillis Action recording settings Posted: 01 23, 2013 /12:03 |
|
I have just started using Mirillis Action to record some gameplay, and it's been kinda hit and miss. The program (trail version until I decide if I want it) seems to record with out a hit on FPS. This is the first program I have used, so the settings are all new to me. Any help would be great, i.e, what the recording res should be, what the FPS should be and then what render res is best for the Tube.
Thanks Hardsun

For the settings: as high as you can record without lag and input delay ;) 1080p and 60fps is the king of the road. Going down to 720p is an option too.
Perhaps sth. like this helps:
1080p and 60fps = high quality gameplay 720p and 60 fps = smooth yt quality 720p and 30fps = good resolution - as smooth as ps2 gameplay. 480p and 30fps = tournament settings - should not cause significant lags in competition (using a modern hdd).
as for the render settings:
best quality = render the avi files external (sth. like premiere, staxrip) auto/high = good yt quality
OR
use intel quick sync. whats your cpu and mainboard?

use intel quick sync. whats your cpu and mainboard? There's really no point in recording at anything other than 30FPS because when you upload to YouTube, Google converts the frame rate to 30FPS no matter what the source video frame rate was AFAIK. Plus, when you watch a movie on your big screen, you're only seeing it at around 24 or 30FPS depending on if the source video is PAL or NTSC respectively. jdb2

That's what I thought, but there is stuff out there saying you should record at the highest possible setting (video and fps) in order to get the best render. Still, it all seems a little over kill for the Tube.

I actually thought youtube supports inter-frames...but actually no, it does not. So ya basically 30fps is enough for the tube. EDIT: Quote: "When 60 frames is reduced to 30, it's like de-interlacing with the blend frame being actual footage, not interpolated. " "The blend will be ALL from source material, and each original source frame will be twice as sharp as 30 frames. So the resulting YT file will be better quality. "Interpolation" is a de-interlace scheme whereby the blend is a best guess estimate. " got these from that discussion: http://forum.videohelp.com/threads/3315 ... or-YouTubeperhaps someone knows more about that. What I know, 60 fps helps alot for slow motion.

Higher the frames, better the slow-mo because your editor has to do less interpolation in-between frames.
