Post subject: Can we run Crysis 3 without the disc? Posted: 01 21, 2013 /10:02 |

If i buy the game from the local game store, and install it using the disc, will i need to have the disc inserted at all times to play? or will it be a one-time install like BF3?
thanks

If you run it through Origin, you won't have to insert your disc.

No seriously, Modsuki is right, when you purchase the disk variation of your game, it will come equipped with a CD key, you can do the traditional CD-ROM install, but with Origin, it gives you the option to insert the key into the redemption tab and commence downloading the install files from the internet.
Even if origin rejects it, EA customer service is actually very cool, they will gladly redeem your code over the phone and add the game to your library; they did this with my original Crysis CD key.
Point being, origin will launch every time you run C3, first ime you run C3 on Origin, it will ask for CD key. Your HDD is a disk too you know?

Long as i remember Crysis 2 run, ran ( mine at least ) without the disk after you've installed and actived both in the initial sptep, and in the menu the MP player with the serial! If they've changed it, its sucks, but won't kill any of us!

Of course you won't need the disk to play it, that would be silly and be taking a backstep.

I'm going to try that with my Special Edition Crysis because Origin rejected it... thanks man! :D Looks like I don't need to preorder Crysis 3 anymore to get the digital Crysis version.

Dan, I also have a circa 2007 Crysis and circa 2008 Warhead (the ones that aren't Origin enabled) and EA customer support gladly and very quickly added keys to my Origin account :)
@OP: Yes. You will be able to launch the game without the disk through Origin, and it has been this way for PC games for quite a long time.
