Post subject: Thanks For The Help Y'all
PostPosted: 10 27, 2012 /12:25

I bought this game TWICE. Once on Gamefly & once on ORIGIN. I have tried going with the ORIGIN install...I have gone with the Gamefly install. I have uninstalled the game & re-installed it, I have started the game & spent time setting prefs...hoping it would "auto-update".
However, EVERY time I try to install the either of the DX11 packages, it STILL tells me to "upgrade to 1.9 first." SO....I tried directly updating to 1.9 & that tells me that it "Cannot locate the game."
So, what's it gonna be guys??? Is someone gonna tell me how to fix this or am I going to have to chalk "Crytek" up as a poor support community? ...tick, tock.

I appreciate any help & thanks in advance.

Poor support.

Have you tried installing and running the game without making any changes and without the DX11? Open Origin, right click on the game and select "Repair Install" and try opening the game with it's default settings first before making changes.
What are your system specs?

Thanks for the response.

My setup is: Alienware Tower with i7, 12GB's RAM, ATI 5870, 10TB's HDD, WIN 7

Yes, that's what I do before even trying the DX11 packs. Just to give the game the chance to auto-update once it opens...I'm assuming it will do that once I'm in the game & have internet access.
It opens fine & I'm able to navigate the menu's, I close it out & that's when I attempt the package installs. I don't "start" a game or anything, just enter the options. The options do not offer the choice of "3D" or DX11. So, I'm assuming it's just staying stock with the 9.

ORIGIN nor Gamefly offer a "repair" install. Only the Uninstall. Which I've done.

Doesn't it auto-update when you start the game?

Most likely your registers are messed up. Do this only on your own risk:
1) Uninstall every instance of every Crysis game (Crysis 1, Crysis 2, Crysis Warhead...).
2) Open regedit (for WinVista and Win7 - open Start menu and type in "regedit").
3) Select "Computer" node.
4) Press CTRL+F and type in "Crysis".
5) Delete the found instance.
6) Press F3.

Repeat steps 5 and 6 until nothing related to Crysis remains in your registers. Then restart your computer and try to install Crysis 2 and patch 1.9 again. Just be careful, deleting anything from registers that is not related to Crysis may cause you stability problems.

Note that the Origin version (and other direct download versions that use a client wrapper) will already be patched to 1.9. The DX11 and texture packages are the same for all versions.

According to the OP the DX11 patch tells him to update to 1.9.

^Yes. The gamefly version is a bit of an unknown... Origin is 1.9

Its a little confusing too since only Maximum Edition is currently available via Origin or Gamefly afaik, but they sound like recent purchases.

Yes, I should mention that it is the "Maximum". From ORIGIN & Gamefly. But, I only install it from ORIGIN. I unistalled yet again last night & have re-dl'ed. I was under the impression that the game would "auto-update" upon being started up, as well. If indeed, the "Maximum" versions are already version 1.9, the DX11 packs are still requesting to upgrade to 1.9 & closes.

Ah. Maximum Edition will not accept the patches because it already has them. It is a restructured version of the game with all of the content ever released for Crysis 2 built in.

If you are not able to toggle on the DX11 and texture options right-out-of-the-box, then the problem lies elsewhere, perhaps with the driver settings for your card, which is very early Dx11 if I recall. C2 may also have "issues" with that card, idk atm.
