Keep the level system?
Get rid of the Crysis 2 levelling system (im on pc)  61%  [ 17 ]

I just wondered what people's views were of the Crysis 2 and most probably to be Crysis 3 leveling system aswell.

I prefer the Crysis 1 style, where you level in Power Struggle only.
My points for this are:
Levelling takes time to unlock the items, time I personally do not always have. Skill I do, time I do not.
Its not a way to get people to play because playing the game becomes more of a tedious chore to get unlocks, instead of an enjoyment.
People get advantages if they have been playing longer which is not right, this makes for an unfair game.
In Power Struggle mode players do not get advantage like suit enhancements etc. when they level, but they are worth more when killed and get points to use on guns , ammunition for that game.

If not have a game mode where everything is unlocked for everyone, that's fair. That's how Crysis Wars is and it works (with the exception of Power Struggle).

What are your views on the levelling system? and what do you prefer? vote

For me, the only thing that ever matters in a multiplayer are systems that only favour players for their skill level.

A system made out of how much time a player spends inside the game and giving him more adavantages or less based on that time, no matter his skill level, is unfair and unnecesary.

I don't see level system as a good thing. It's more like a forced dedication, which you must pass in order to use loadouts you like (For example, you need to level up to the high levels in order to use Mike). And like you said, it gives people advanges since they might have a perk, which counters something low-level players can't counter. Or they have advanced version of the perk.

If I was forced to decide what kind of XP system there is, I would only lock cosmetic stuff. Or give option to lock things for you and you unlock them either by leveling up, doing challenges or both. Even then all the modules, which counter stuff would be the easiest things to unlock.

However, I did like Crysis 2's unlock system more than what other games offer. You got to unlock equipment you actually wanted, not something like Gauss sniper rifle when you don't use a sniper rifle or armor enchance when you barely use armor. Still, I would rather have everything unlocked at the beginning.

As long as there are no OP weapons unlocked in the higher levels, I really see no reason to remove the level system. Altough there should be a mode where you don't have any custom classes, like PS.

They said most of the unlocks are front-loaded (you unlock the most/best stuff at the start).

If this is true and includes super fast nanosuit modules leveling (or removes that, altogether), I'm all for a leveling system. One that unlocks "extra weapons" in a way that, since all weapons are balanced, the newcomer can kill just as efficiently either from the start or in very few games.

Unlocks should be mostly cosmetic: HALO:Reach does it VERY right.

They should completely get rid of the Crysis 2 multiplayer, which was nothing more than a CoD ripoff with nanosuits.

And yes Crysis 2 MP was pathetic, from net code to the overall structure of the classes.

I'm not much of a fan of a ranking system in multiplayer which features unlocks.

I would be HUGE fan of an ELO ranking system, where players of similar skill are pitted against each other on matchmaking dedicated servers provided by EA. But this would only be effective if Crytek could effectively create a game suitable for e-sports, something they haven't been capable of since Crysis Wars.

There could be the separate ELO ranking system for matchmaking and a more visible classic XP rank.. However, I believe that XP ranking should only feature cosmetic unlocks. Everybody should have similar guns to work with in a match, the furthest gun unlocks can really be taken is with a match based buy system.

Ranking was pretty much pioneered in MMO's and even they are moving towards everyone being on a level playing field when it comes to ranks in PvP. For some reason, FPS games have been trending in the opposite direction and it has been making a game genre which always has depended heavily on skill move towards a different (and worse) system to favor whoever ranks higher.

The main thing I wish is that guns shouldn't be rank restricted. This makes no sense to me that I have to use guns I don't like to grind until a certain rank before I'm allowed to use the gun I want. They should give us one unlock, that can unlock any weapon, regardless of your rank.
