Hey guys, first off just want to say I've been playing Crysis 2 multiplayer for about a week now, I picked it up for the PC during the Steam sale and I'm having an absolute blast on it, it's been hard but hey it's competition and it's all a learning experience.

And secondly I apologize if this is in the wrong section (Gameplay seemed pretty appropriate for what I was after)
I'd like to apologize for my long post as well.

But yeah, I'm only level 9 at the moment and I'm currently running around with the following:

A SCAR with reflex + hologram
M 12 NOVA side arm
Frag grenades

And my suit modules at the moment are:
Armor Enhance
Jammer
Weapon Pro

From what I've been able to read though a lot of people don't recommend Weapon Pro, but I picked it up as it looked like the best thing for me at the time (Some of the servers I play on look down upon Aim Enhance)

With all that being said, I see a lot of people running around with a SCAR (Or SCARAB? I forget) with a laser sight on. Is this really the best option? I can understand that it would be giving more accurate fire from the hip, but I've been finding the reflex sight really handy.
When it comes to attachments though, I really have no idea what I should be using. I'll admit that I usually forget about hologram, but I'm trying to improve on that.

Is it generally more useful using a SCAR over a SCARAB though? I can see the SCAR has more damage, range and accuracy, but the SCARAB has a better rate of fire and more mobility. My thoughts are leaning toward the SCAR, but I just want to make sure I'm not missing anything.

When it comes to suit modules though, when it comes to the time that I can upgrade to something more superior I was thinking of the following

Armor Enhance
Visor Enhance (Trying to get more into the habit of going into visor mode to tag enemies, so I thought this would help immensely to the entire team)
But when it comes to power I'm tired between Rapid Fire and Mobility Enhance...

I can see Rapid Fire being great when you're toe to toe with something, especially when I have armor on, but Mobility Enhance seems great for well... Mobility.

Which brings me on to another question I have, but before I go on do these suit modules look appropriate for a "Run n' Gun" sort of style?

Onto my other question though,
I find myself using my energy rapidly, or not efficient enough. Maybe I might be using cloak too much, sprinting where not appropriate, or combining abilities too much (Cloak + Sprint for example) and a habit I've been trying to get myself into is quick looks through Nanovision to see enemies/cloaked enemies more clearly, but is there any tips you guys could possibly offer on energy usage? Such as cloaking through large areas, or when I should be using sprint most effectively.

I have looked at a few beginners guides on the Crysis 2 Multiplayer, but some of them seem a little out-dated, or at least in some parts. They have largely been very helpful though. That being said, if you happen to have an article/thread that would be appropriate I'd appreciate it if you could link it :)

I am sorry for my long post, but I just wanted to make sure that I could cover everything that was on my mind at the moment.

And thanks in advance to any help you may be able to provide, I really appreciate it!

Hey man, you're probably going to want to post this stuff in the Crysis 2 PC discussion, lots of people are active over there. Anyway, to answer some of your questions.

I have an old video where I showcased 5 of the strongest custom classes I liked, obviously my own class preferences have changed since then but I do still use the classes in that video! It's crazy haha plus I still think the video is a great help for new players. Check it out:

About the class you are currently using, I'd say it's good, but just get rid of the Jammer Module already, it's totally usless and just alerts the enemy that you are nearby. If you feel like you are stealthing a lot you can put Stealth Enhance on there instead, would be a lot more useful.

However generally with that class, Armour Enhance+Weapon Pro+Scar you really aren't going to be focusing on Stealth a whole lot. Weapon Pro is a great module! And visor enhance is good too although I don't use that a whole lot since I do tag often and I'd rather use that slot for something else.

For a Stealth run and gun class I'd recommend modules like Nano Recharge, Energy Transfer, Stealth Enhance and Mobility Enhance, works best with a Feline+Laser in my oppinion. It's my favourite class and I've been using it since release day.

About the Scar+Laser question, you shouldn't use it as it is bugged and considered an exploit and people generally won't like you for using it haha. Scarab is good but you have to set up the class differently for it overpower a Scar user in my oppinion.

If you're interested in the Scarab check out my Rapid Fire Scarab class in the video.

Any more questions, just fire away!

Follow WS's advice. Did you have a look at this guide? viewtopic.php?f=40&t=40478&hilit=tips+for+beginners It's very good. And look for the Tactical Tuesday series in SDub's Youtube channel: https://www.youtube.com/user/SDubist

I'm not a good player but I can give you some advice from my trying-to-be-less-noob perspective:

Mobility Enhance is great if you... well, if you move a lot. Not a big deal if you play more in a defensive way, holding your position, but very good in most other cases. In your case it seems more appropiate than Rapid Fire. I don't use Rapid Fire with automatic fire weapons because I run out of ammo really fast :) But if your aim is good it gives you an edge.

I love Visor Enhance with medium range weapons and the reflex sight, or sniper weapons, for me it makes easier to spot targets and aim.

Weapon Pro is great, I used it a lot in the beginning (I forgot to reload too often, LOL) and still use it in some of my classes.

Armor Enhance is good but I often activate armor a bit too late, so I mostly use Energy Transfer, Detonation Delay (great defending a Crash Site) or Proximity Alarm (for Sniper and defensive classe).

The only attachments I use are Extended Magazine and Gauss (great if enemies are calling Ceph Gunships).

I hope to have helped you at least a bit!

Since you're just beginning to develop your gameplay style, I'd recommend you to use less cloak and get used to using armor more often. Stick with scar (as it's ultimate all-around weapon), and armor-style gameplay. Scarab is somewhere between Feline and Scar, and it's nice weapon, you can even silence it unlike Scar.

Laser is bugged, aim enhance is bugged, and that's why some servers don't allow it.

Jammer won't help you since it's more of an anti-perk, it jams their map, so it works like proximity alarm for them.
Considering you just started playing, and I'll assume you don't have perfect aim (and with all this lag in the game) I would recommend using Mobility Enhance over Rapid Fire (with scar).
Visor Enhance won't actually tag enemies (like tagging when having visor opened) but rather it outlines enemies in red so you can see them easier.

Watch this video (like felip mentioned above ^^), it could help you with few things.

Thanks guys for the helpful tips! :) So I'll try and get to everything said one at a time, but first off I just think it was pretty funny because I was actually just watching some of your videos War_Spirit right after I posted this :D (Subbed as well)

Completely right about the Jammer, I don't know why I didn't come to that same conclusion earlier, so I'll be switching that up right away.
I'd generally be using stealth when I'm moving through a large area or somewhere where I felt I was very vulnerable to gunfire, but I suppose it'd just be more effective for me to just sprint and armor up if I need to (I'm thinking that would be more energy efficient as well)
Would that be right?

A lot of the guides I was reading was saying Weapon Pro wasn't very good, but I'll take (both) of your words for it however. The guide was pretty out-dated though, so I can imagine the metagame would have changed a fair bit in the last year.

I'm actually keen to try out the Feline class you just mentioned though, it looks like a lot of fun :)
For the time being though I think I'll be sticking to the SCAR, I did try the FY71 with a few mods on it at the beginning, but I just feel like I'm getting much better results with the SCAR (Could also be I'm not using the weapon right either)

Noted about the laser too, I won't be running that if that's the case. Probably stick to the reflex :)

That thread was also really helpful Drphelip, so thank you for the link! and I checked out the YouTube channel as well, so I've subscribed to his updates :)

Good point about Rapid Fire as well, I do tend to move around a lot (Always had imbedded into my brain that staying still for too long = bad in FPS) but a lot later on (Once they're unlocked) I might do some experimentation.

I found initially that I'd activate armor too late as well, but I got myself into a habit quickly of hovering one of my fingers over the Q key, or just very very close to it.
Which reminds me, I rebound Nanovision to left ctrl and melee to one of my mouse buttons which has been extremely helpful.

Also apologies because this is going to sound like a stupid question, but with Extended Magazine, is that more ammo in your weapon in total, or more ammo in your weapon before you have to reload (In your clip, I suppose) Or is it both?

And speaking of other attachments I've been wondering whether or not I should be using the grenade or gauss attachments, I was just going to fiddle around with both of them and see what I prefer. By what I've been seeing though gauss does seem to be the preferred attachment.

Again, thanks so much to you both you've been a tremendous help! :D

I actually started typing up my previous reply over an hour ago and had no idea someone else replied as well >.< Sorry! I was cooking dinner in between typing.

My aim isn't too bad as I'm used to some of the other PC shooters, but I haven't really noticed much lag either (I play on some of the Australian servers, my ping is usually less than 100)

And thanks for the clarification on the Visor Enhance too! I guess that's much more like that it is in single-player.

And thank you for the links as well, much appreciated! :D

Both. You carry the same amount of clips but the clips are larger, so you also get more bullets in total.

Haha awesome man thanks!

I don't know what guides you've read saying Weapon pro is bad, I'd highly recommend it, although Mobility Enhance is still my favourite Power Perk cause I'm a parkour fanatic and run around like a madman. Always keep moving when you play! Don't stop moving or you'll die, that's the first tip I always give to new players.

You don't see many people using the secondary attatchments and when you do it's usually because they are just trying to complete their assessments. I could only recommend the gauss attatchment on maps where you can get Ceph Air Strike, as this attachment kills the gunship very fast.

I always just go with extended mags though. You might want to try the shotgun attachment if you have a long-range loadout (assualt scope) so if anyone gets close you pop out the shotgun. Then again when I use Assualt Scope I also use Point Fire Enhance so if anyone gets close I shoot them from the hip. Love that combo.

Good luck!

yeah, Weapon Pro is really good, it gives you not only faster reload, but also faster aiming down sights, which is very useful when checking corners while moving.
