I went and purchased Crysis 2 the other day and have been trying to get it to first install and now run. When i insert the disk in i go through the usual get to the install where it stops and hangs on a Directx install. so i run that from the disk itself where it hangs but allows me to get the copying files process running.

everything has copied over i have a shortcut etc. i click it auto updates and patches to 1.9, then when i try and run it all i get is a disk rev up then nothing. no processes in task manager nor services pop up either.

if any one can help its become really frustrating and i have trailed through the Internet for a solution but not yet got it running . . . any ideas or help i would love to try out :)

i have installed it to an old pc that cant run the game above 2fps but it runs so its not the disk

running directx 11 , i have tried the dx11patch and texture packs for crysis 2 as well

i really dont want to have to wipe the os and start again . . but its looking like the only option . . . might do a restore first and see

and my sound isn't set to 7.1 surround

Thanks, I have just uploaded a post il keep this post up to date if anything is resolved seems their are a few others with the same issue.

It sounds from this as though DirectX may be in disrepair... try downloading another DirectX updater... when that has run successfully, try the game again.

i have now found that i can run the directx manually by going into the actual disk while in safe mode ? what this means i dont know.

and i thought the same thing and have tried others and they simply say i am up to date

so far EA have said

To Delete Temporary Files so that the file conflict can be prevented, please empty your Temp folder by:

1. Double click on "My Computer"
2. Double click on the C: drive
3. Double click on the "Windows" folder.
4. Double click on the "Temp" folder.
5. Hold the "CTRL" key and tap the "A" key to select all.
6. Tap the "Delete" key on your keyboard and accept the "Are you sure you want to delete these files" prompt.

Secondly, please end all background tasks to prevent conflicts with other pro-grams. Please follow the steps on ending background tasks:

1. Hold down the Ctrl, Alt, and Delete keys at the same time
2. Click the "Processes" tab.
3. Click on the gray bar in the middle column that says User Name to sort by user name.
4. Do NOT select anything for SYSTEM, LOCAL SERVICE, or NETWORK SERVICE.
5. Click on anything besides EXPLORER and TASKMGR for this User Name or other user names.
6. Click on END PROCESS
7. Repeat these steps until only explorer.exe and taskmgr.exe are open for this user profile.

have you run crysis 2 on this Pc before ? if so , you may have the same prob I had . I uninstalled game , and reinstalled after encountering problems . after installing , game would not run 3D , or let me log on . Tried everything EA suggested , got nowhere ! Eventually found some old game files thta had not cleared during uninstall . Deleted them , game now runs fine . Good luck

Do you recall where these leftover game files were? In the Crysis2 program folder or in the ..\Saved Games\Crysis 2 folder?

Hi, there might be nothing wrong with the state of your system. According to your PC setup, I'm gonna assume that you have NVIDIA optimus technology enabled on your PC. What you should do as the first thing...

0) Restart your system if you realized some EA suggestions.
1) Go to NVIDIA control panel.
2) Disable NVIDIA optimus technology and set NVIDIA 610m as default adapter.
3) Reinstall the game (it's possible that reinstalling DX is enough, but just to be sure).
4) Run Crysis 2.

If it successfully executes, make sure to enable NVIDIA optimus again, but select to use your NVIDIA adapter to be used when running Crysis2.exe. If this doesn't help, make sure to enable optimus again.
