Post subject: Crysis 2 MaxE Steam version question. Posted: 09 11, 2012 /07:57 |

I have downloaded and installed it but not launched it. Because I don't know if the MaxE content (2 dlc + limited edition stuff) will only be linked to the account I first create it with and that account only OR with more than one account in case I want to start fresh.
And is the CD Key that came with the Steam version redeemable on Origin? Just in case I experience bugs then I'll try the Origin version.
Also I hear the DX11 & HRT pack is included with the Steam version. Is this the same case for Origin version of Crysis 2 MaxE?

hi, maximum edition contains both dlc´s, dx11 pack and hires textures pack also.
Iam not sure if i got the point of your question about CD key. So, when you install and run your max ed., you have to fill your CD key you got from steam. And then you can login with your old nickname or make the new1. The game is the same (only with more maps etc) so bugs are the same. Anyway i think that its possible to use cd key from steam version to dvd version.

- All accounts created and/or accessed with an M.E. installation can use all of the bonus content, without limitation. It is not tied to a single account.
- The Steam key is redeemable on Origin. Using it there does not lock you out of using Steam again, either. However, Origin will give preference to the Steam version if it detects it, so uninstall it first.
- The DX11 an HRT packs are pre-installed with all versions of M.E.
In fairly extensive testing, bopping back an forth between the various versions does no harm. They all share the same ..\Saved Games\Crysis 2 location seamlessly. You needn't worry: Launch it!

Very informative reply +1. You 100% sure all past, current and future accounts created and/or accessed with MaxE will be entitled to all the bonus content? I have a old account from a year ago that was the standard edition so that means I'll be upgraded to MaxE once I log in with that account? Does it matter which CD Key I enter? Since I have a standard edition & a MaxE CD key now. Also I've looked through the installation files of MaxE Steam version and could not find the De-Activation tool. Presumably the Steam version also have 5 activation limits. Is there a link you know of where I can download it manually?

^Yes, 100% sure. Even the old account will be able to use the bonus content.
As far as activation.exe, no its not present.... I havent run into any issues installing and uninstalling M.E. with either Origin or Steam any number of times on several machines. I'll have to research the facts on the DRM for M.E., but to answer your question, you have a copy of activation.exe with your original C2...

I deleted my original C2 ages ago. So I don't have the activation.exe anymore. If only I could download it manually from somewhere or someone. Only got C2 MaxE because of the Steam sale.

Follow up: Activation.exe is not present because the Maximum Edition release has no 3rd party DRM (such as SecureROM).
