Post subject: Community FAQ Sticky: Input needed! Posted: 08 23, 2012 /02:17 |

Its been suggested by several members that a FAQ sticky for common Crysis 2 PC issues would be a good idea. Absolutely.Since sticky real estate is at a premium, one thread will need to cover a range of topics in a useful way. When I get back home I'll work on a format and assess what kind of categories the fixes might fall into. In the meantime, any and all suggested topics and links are needed! In no particular order, I can think of a few offhand that are often asked: - Activation limit exceeded
- Invalid login details
- DLC Q&A
- My game crashes when xxx
- I Cant find any servers!
- How to relocate/reinstall/deactivate etc..
- Network Connectivity...
There's many more I will no doubt miss. In a week or two (depending) We'll format and combine them all for review and further input. Please advise.

I see you noticed my post :D Fix for 'An error has occurred, please check your network connectivity' viewtopic.php?f=40&t=47912May only work for Windows Vista/7, since I'm not sure if the Base filtering engine exists in XP. EDIT: posted an alternative fix for people running XP, it hasn't been tested though, so I'm not sure if it works. As a side note, I totally agree with the way you wish to set this up. However, each fix needs to be in the first post of a topic, so people don't need to go information hunting in a 30 page topic.

I was thinking of using &start=xx in the URL (where xx is the post #) to jump to the relevant part of existing threads. My fear is that any new, duplicated threads might not have as much overall substance to them... aside from also being harder to maintain. Its not the best example of the technique, but here it is using your above link: http://www.mycrysis.com/forums/viewtopic.php?f=40&t=47912&start=4

You could keep it to one or two topics just with a list of "quoted" fixes. Each fix would have a link to the original topic, so people could see the topic if needed.

Funny, I also thought about a sticky thread like this a few weeks ago. This thread should be similar to this: http://www.dayzwiki.com/wiki/Known_BugsYou show known bugs, and show solutions (if there are any) And also some bugs you should include: -Crash when loading saved games (after 1.9 patch) -HDMI bug -DX11 won't go fullscreen Also, make sure to put a link to EA support in the post, so people know where to go.

CH4NCE, perhaps make a thread where the OP is the list of Questions players may have and have each question linked to the current solution or response to the question. Have each answer as a response to the Q&A thread (each answer in a seperate post) that way we can link each question to each post because each post on a thread has a URL, then the Q&A thread can be locked and updated when new solutions or questions arise.
It'd probably be best to build it on the mod forum then move it over here and sticky it. I'm willing to help compile the list. :)

All welcome feedback, TY. It has already greatly improved the final design.
More topics with solution links (or writeups!) are needed -- post them here. This thread can serve as a notepad and will ultimately will be copied from and die off as the new sticky is published.
