Post subject: Could Crysis 3 be the ending of the amazing Franchise/IP? Posted: 08 02, 2012 /05:15 |

The Crysis Franchise was set out to be a trilogy... and If I'm correct in saying ... then a trilogy consists of "3 parts" .. Could Crysis "3" be the end? ...

I guess it could be the end, depending on what you think an end is. I mean maybe the first 3 Crysis's are simply Prophets story? And maybe Crysis 4,5,6 etc. will be a rendition of Psycho's story? Or maybe someone new altogether? I like to think of these 3 as simply Prophet's story, and that his story ends here while others only begin.

-Zanthir Fix'd. Prophet is Dead. Alcatraz is there. The suit's voice synthesizer is using "Prophets voice" as the host's way of communicating.

Didn't you listen when Prophet said that the suit "changes all the rules"? I'm thinking that Prophet became a part of the suit, like a part of his consciousness is within it, allowing him to live even after killing himself. No offense, but your approach is too literal... -Zanthir

I'll be surprised if Crysis 3 isn't the last game of the franchise. There just isn't a lot of interest in this series from FPS gamers in general and these days if something isn't a cash cow it doesn't last very long.
From the storyline perspective well.. it's already been trashed and I have no doubt they will make the ending open.

Alcatraz is nobody.
Seriously, who is he? What kind of personality does he have? How does he even SOUND like?
(Yes, I know his personality can kind of be seen in LEGION, and his voice in one of the trailers. However, stick to in-game presentation and you'll see: Alcatraz is NOBODY. Alcatraz is Prophet's freaking CAR.)

Maybe the Crysis Trilogy sets the stage for:
Crysis: Aftermath, a AAA-quality F2P featuring story-driven PVE and intense PVP combat!
... or something.
(My favorite story segment is where you have to use the Ceph time warp technology to travel back to the islands, discovering a stash of Nanosuit 1.0s to defeat the South Koreans in a desperate attempt to re-invent history... Seeing as you are, after all, the last hope for humanity and everything....)
Edit ;)

When I first heard about the nano-dome, I was confused. We went from discovering and fighting aliens (Crysis), to leading a war against them and trying to beat them (Crysis 2)...and now it's been 20 years and CELL is now the big threat. This thoroughly raised an eyebrow from me, because even though the aliens are still in the game, it doesn't seem to me, at least at this moment, that they're important anymore. I'm hoping for some crazy sci-fi conspiracy theory stuff where all of the CELL are aliens or are somehow being controlled by them, but again, at this point I can only theorize and hope. -Zanthir
