Hello Crysis 2 community, now i need your help!

I feel that my GTX 560 TI has not really enough power for my current games and my requirements. Crysis 2, 70-80 FPS, 1600x1200 (low settings, low graphics script) and sometimes i get FPS dips. Battlefield 3, 50-70 FPS 1980x1080 (middle settings). Huge FPS dips on huge maps like ''Golf of Oman''. So i decided to buy a new one, my current is now just a year old.

I am pending between the GTX 680 2GB (500-600€) and the GTX 690 4GB (800-1000€).

I want a graphics card that can give me enough power for almost 2 years. And the future games, like Crysis 3 and may be Battlefield 4. But i am not sure if i need some other parts too. Will my CPU be to slow?

PC System:

CPU: Intel Core i7 920 @ 2,8 GHz (overclocking?)
RAM: 6 GB DDR 3, Corsair Dominator @ 1800 Mhz
GPU: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 560 Ti 1 GB
Motherboard: Gigabyte - EX58-UD4
PSU: 650 Watt, Corsair TX
SSD: Samsung SSD 64 GB
HDD: 500 GB

I am not really a fan of ''SLI'' because i had many problems.

Tell me your opinions and ideas, please.

Sincerely,

fVic UltimateCloaker<3

Weird, I run Crysis 2 on my GTX 560 Ti at near 100 FPS (near constant 60FPS on recording) on 1080p.

On low settings with SDub's cvars for lighting...

You can see the rest of my build on my profile if it is of any interest to you.

Gtx 690 is basically a sli gtx 680 on a single pcb.If SLI is not your cup of tea then get zotac gtx670 amp ,faster than stock gtx 680 at 50 bucks less. And yes that cpu needs a OC.For proper hardware advice post in tomshardware forum.

If you buy 690 and overclock your CPU, you will probably need stronger PSU than the one you have (650W). Be aware of that.

The minimum requirements for a GTX 680 = 600W
----------------------------------------GTX 690 = 650W

I was gonna point it out that for safety it might be better to purchase a new PSU.

And cooldude is correct, as he said a GTX 690 is equivalent to GTX 680 SLI.
Also, to avoid bottlenecking (Which hopefully shouldn't be a problem) Overclocking would be best.

And it really depends on how long you plan to keep the card but any of those mentioned cards should have no problem lasting you 2 years on max settings for games now and in the future.

A gtx 690 is not directly an equivalent to 2 gtx 680s.
But however SLI is SLI.
I recommend a GTX 670. It's more worth than a GTX 680 and a frigging beast.

VRAM. Its always an agonizing, over-researched decision for me, but the only time I've really had "buyers remorse" is when I saved a few bucks on the VRAM.

Yeah that's what I'm talking about. 2 GTX 680s are better than 1 GTX690

You are right in the fact that in alot of cases GTX 680 SLI can beat the 690 but not by a big margin and the 690 at times beats the 680, but overall maybe the 680(SLI) peaks in at the top between these 2.
