Does it give you an error message? Is the installation faulty? If your re-do your install, clean out your registry of any left-over .dll's etc. with ccleaner before doing a fresh install. You can try repairing the installation via "Add or Remove Programs" functionality in windows. Make sure the game isn't running in any kind of weird compatibility mode (right click on the .exe, go to properties, make sure all is default). Did you install any kind of odd drivers recently?
This can keep going on forever. Give us more specific info about the actual crash too, please!
