The Crysis games are all on sale right now on Steam so I was looking into them.
Crysis, and Crysis Warehead both have securom so I'll be passing on those.
Crysis 2 Maximum edition however has no third-party DRM listed on the steam page.
Considering the others games have that, I don't trust it at all. So what DRM does Crysis 2 Maximum have on Steam?
And my next question is - is there a way to turn any blood off on it?
Edit: For anyone finding this from a Google search or something, I can give you the most thorough answers now that I own the game.
Blood: Well, the actual combat portion of the game isn't gorey or bloody - at least that I've seen after a few hours. There's some blood when shooting enemies but it's barely noticeable and not too graphic at all. Nothing icky. When you kill them, they just fall down.
However.. The game is definitely pretty disgusting otherwise. Throughout the game you'll see injured and dead humans laying around with their insides spilling out of them. You'll also see plenty of melted human flesh (sometimes in extremely large quantities) with skeletons inside of it. It's pretty **** nasty. Also, in the intro cutscene there was a body floating around in the water and I believe it was decapitated, but I really didn't get a good enough look to be able to tell.
As gross as it is, it isn't on the same level as a gorey game. Not to be too personal, but to give you an example - I'm pretty girly and definitely don't like that sort of thing. Furthermore, mentally I can't handle seeing very disturbing gorey images.. But this game hasn't bothered me in that way. So if you're the same, don't let that discourage you too much. As awesome as the graphics are, it isn't something that looks super real.
DRM: Fortunately for this, it's pretty positive. No third-party DRM at all. You do have to put in a CD key to play multiplayer, but that's about it. The key is attached to your Steam account. There's no Securom at all and you can install the game anywhere as many times as you please. You also don't have to be online to play singleplayer.
So yeah. It's a shame the other Crysis games on Steam don't have the same treatment.. they have Securom. But fortunately Crysis 2 Maximum edition is clean of it all.

^^what he said. THere's no option to turn blood off, but it's minimal. and 'corpses' become objects right away, so no extra blood there
Not sure about the steam version, but the retail CD version just has internal DRM. No securom.

Blood? What blood? And there is no special C2 DRM besides your account logon and/or Steam!

No securom. What internal DRM? I don't mind needing to register an account or anything. Just don't want securom anywhere near me, especially if it has activation limits. I also don't want the "MUST BE ONLINE" drm either. xD WaR_SPiRiT wrote: I'm well aware. If that's about as extreme as the blood gets then I guess it won't be an issue.

C2 just requires the serial and a username/password. (no securom or anything like that). Once you've activated it the first time, you don't have to be online to play the campaign.
The cd version has 5 activations, but that might be different for the Steam version. I know you can contact EA and request more activations per serial.

You only need to be logged in to play the MP. You can play the SP in offline mode!
