Post subject: Activation loop Posted: 07 17, 2012 /09:26 |

So i've been scrounging through some threads about this issue... but i still haven't found a potential solution aside from restarting the game/ computer nearly infinitely before it breaks the loop o.o;;
THE PROBLEM (for those who don't know what i'm talking about) After you install and on the first run of the game on the computer, it begs for an activation which I gave and it accepted it. The only problem is that when I start the game again, instead of actually proceding to the game itself, the same activation begging window pops up again.
It does this repeatedly and doesn't end.
D8;;;;
Are there any solutions out there?

I've never had this problem, but here's one variant on the solution:
* Start the game. Enter the serial code when prompted then select SKIP at the login screen to proceed to the single player menu. Enter and exit a single player game.
* Enter the multiplayer, enter the serial key again, Login then Join and Leave a server, exit to singleplayer.
On next restart the key, it's promised, will be saved.
(EDIT: I misread OP, this fix is for a different issue.)

After you enter the serial and click OK, what is the next thing you see?

I have the same problem :( After spending a day with this issue I found several 'fixes', but none worked for me.
1. If you have a NVidia Optimus enabled GPU, you need to select this GPU as default for the Crysis2 application in the nvidia control panel. Sometimes they say you need to do the same for the activation.exe in the same directory. 2. Right-click Crysis2.exe and choose to execute with the dedicated gpu - seems to be another NVidia Optimus fix. 3. Some people could fix this problem by reinstalling an old graphics driver. 4. There was something about deleting the activation-files in some EA*** directories and reactivate the game. But in most cases these directories don't even exist, as in my case -.-
My problem: none of these fixes works for me and most comments about this problem are more than one year old and without solution. But it seems to be a problem of multy-gpu systems (no SLI or CrossFire!)
My case: I bought a new pc, using an i5-3570K AND using it's integrated gpu to save power and noise when the dedicated gpu (gigabyte GTX660ti) is not needed. Together with the intel 77z chipset (gigabyte GA-Z77X-UD3H) i am able to use VirtuMVP to swich between the gpus. Everything works fine with other applications, such as Crysis or CrysisWarhead, but not with Crysis2. BUT, when I set Crysis2 to use the integrated gpu in the virtuMVP software the game starts fine but runs only at <10 fps. Resetting to dedicated gpu and the activation loop is back. A workaround is to plug my monitor to the dedicated GPU instead of the motherboard. The game runs perfect on the GTX660ti, but that is no long term solution for me.
I hope somebody reads this and got some help for me.
My system: i5-3570K, no OC 8GB RAM gigabyte Z77 motherboard gigabyte GTX660ti (driver: 306.97) Windows 7 Professional x64 SP1

The Crysis 2 activation module is actually SolidShield 2. As far as I understand, it creates some fingerprint from one of the components's serial number and from then on acts accordingly.

But this is only to count, how many times you have activated the game (on different machines). So when I activate the game again and again the hardware ID is the same and I still have 4 of 5 activations left. I have no problem to activate the game, but to run it afterwards.
But maybe I missed your point. What exactly should I do?

For Hitogorushi, I agree with the solution being to choose the Nvidia card as default to run the game
For Thargon88, if your system has got two video outputs, one on the motherboard and the other on the Nvidia card, i guess you should plug two cables on your monitor, one from each video output, as many monitors are capable of this, we could expect yours is too ;-)

Another nasty workaround, but I'll try nevertheless.
Today I found some recent posts about this problem in other forums. Seems to me as if this issue has been fixed a year ago and now appears again.
Thanks for your ideas so far, guys! I hope there are more to come :)
