Post subject: Crysis 3 PC version questions (before game release) Posted: 06 22, 2012 /11:24 |
|
Hello! Since I dont like to beg developers for patch after they release game I thought that I'll ask You guys few questions about the PC version before I'll buy it and when the product is not yet finished:
1. Will this game have option for changing the FOV?
1A. Will You try to limit maximum FOV as You did it in one of the patches to Crysis2? (I heard that somebody from Your studio agreed that changing ingame fov is a hack and thus said that option have been limited to some ridiculously low value like 60 which was tragic for PC players that have their screen closer than the xbox players have their TV's).
2. Did You fixed the multiplayer disconnections problems that were present in Crysis 2? "Your connection to the session have been lost", "Lost connection to host" - and in the console what we could saw was: cause 11 msg="Nub destroyed" - which wasnt very funny.
2A. Did You managed to create ani-cheat mechanism that will secure legal normal gamers? I mean in C2 there were tons of kids with aimbots and permanent cloak hacks!!! and we could only report cheater by sending email with proof(!!!) with video footage of cheater (!!!) and it was a very tragic solution from You guys! You know... its 21st century and even Quake3 Arena had better .pak protection... 10 years ago!
2B. Will there be voting options in multiplayer to kick players? Crysis 2 didnt have that and we couldnt even kick annoing players who were using hacks! There was something but if the player didnt know what to type in console (!!!) then the voting simply did not pass due to that fact.
3. Does Crysis 3 will run on DX11 at the begining or will gamers need to wait for somekind of patch? :)
4. Did You enhanced (in relation to C2) the AI of enemies in single player campaign?
5. Are You implementing in game option to disable the nanosuit voice? If You use headsets then this voice is very annoing - cloak engaged, maximum armor, cloak engaged, few more steps, cloak engaged, few shots, cloak engaged, few shots later - cloak engaged....
6. Are You integrating the deinstallation process with the revoking licence tool (de-authorization)? As far as I remember in C2 You needed to manually revoke before unistalling which was a mistake that could force gamers to buy another copy of game if they didnt know that they need to manualy de-authorize before deinstall.
7. Did You managed to deliver solution for gamers that simply wont buy extra dlc map packs and would like to not be kicked during server map rotation?
7A. We all know that there will be some extra content for Crysis 3 - business is business - my question is: will You again try to relate/bind extra DLC content to the created account name INSTEAD of cd-key or email account?
8. Will this game use Origin, Windows Live or something else?
and the most important two questions:
9. Will PC version be a port from XBOX version (as Crysis 2 PC version was) or will You guys respect PC gamers along with the Crysis 3 release by doing the proper PC version?
10. Will there be any real support for gamers if there will be any bugs in game? Im a realist and I know that it's simply impossible to test everything but I think that customers deserve something more than few posts without ETA of patch.
You let down many PC Crysis 2 gamers by releasing product which had many bugs, there were very little support from You and sometime given solutions were inapropiate to the year in which game was released - so sorry but I felt obligated to write what I wrote.
I personally stopped playing any FPS games due to my experiences with Crysis 2 (thanks to this i've discovered Starcraft 2 :D) and I think that now its the best time to communicate with You guys and ask what we will receive in 2013 - I'll be even more honest with You - if You even (and I know that You will) make most impressive marketing campaign for Crysis 3 - it still wont convince me for preordering or even buying when the game will be fresh.
Sadly I think that there is many people like me so we would like to get some answers before we can trust You once more.
Regards, Crysis 2 PC customer.
Ps. I left that message on Your facebook too, because I see that You already start making "good marketing" and last time I remember I ended with preordered Crysis 2 which was in few ways the opposite of what You advertised.

"PC this, PC that"
Move on for a change. I understand that Crytek was into PC, but they aren't solely for that anymore. Talking about Crysis 3 PC verisons as the only "proper" one. You are talking like PC gamers are the only worthy gamers out there. WRONG!
But a good post nonetheless and good questions asked, although you can't 'ask' everything and expect an answer just like that, there a quite a few interviews to reveal some info. So check those out as well!

3. Does Crysis 3 will run on DX11 at the begining or will gamers need to wait for somekind of patch? :) This is fore sure it will be DX11 from the start with better visuals than the Dx11patch for Crysis 2 offered.
9. Will PC version be a port from XBOX version (as Crysis 2 PC version was) or will You guys respect PC gamers along with the Crysis 3 release by doing the proper PC version? You get this wrong buddy: It was one "base" version for all platforms. That was possible because of the Cryengine 3 live create option. Porting would mean to create a game for a console and then rewriting and optimising it for the PC. That wasnt the case with Crysis 2. Just one version for all platform without porting anything. What you could mean is the dumbed down grfxsettings and the "press start" thingy at the beginning. For the second goes... dosnt bother me... just happenend because they didnt want to create a whole new mainmenu and startscreen for the pcversion, thats not even a "real" part of the game for me. For the grfxcustomization... Crysis 1 was made for hardcore pc gamers with hardcore rigs... Crysis 2 was build for a more casual crowd in mind.. and not necessarily because of the console gamers... yes there are even hardcore gamers in the console player camp ;-) They dont wanted the gamers to "waste" time by tweaking the game within endless option - menues.
"Talking about Crysis 3 PC verisons as the only "proper" one. You are talking like PC gamers are the only worthy gamers out there. WRONG! "
Hey buddy the Pc is the more complex platform to build games for. There are way more things that can go wrong. Pcgamers spend a lot of time and money on their machines ( almost 3 times more than consoleplayers i assume). So these guys have some legit interests for their version.. while the consoleversions will be much more unproblematic and unified.

Dont get me wrong when reading part about console port - in the PC version there was ton of errors displayed in console while loading map etc. GFX menu does not exist as for PC gamers and there was a ton of problems with game not running, crashing not even mentioning the disconnections from servers. So apart from "Was it a port or not" - they gaved us a product which had marks of "unfinished job". Then instead of a patch we received an offer for dlc maps for something like $20 and I personally stopped playing because I felt like company support console gamers more than they support those with pc.
Dont get me wrong - Im mad because I've preordered Crysis 2 and I simply could not use multiplayer mode due to disconnections - nope, its not my network, I wasnt alone with this problem, there were ton of people suffering from random disconnections and when they implemented DLC maps on servers gamers were forced to buy it if they didnt want to be disconnected from map rotation...
And the most annoying for me was that Crysis 2 received ton of rewards and good reviews - pc gamers were struggling with the kids running with aimbots and industry said "this is the best fps game of the year".
I simply dont want them to screw things up again so I thought that I'll write few words - maybe they will reach someone responsible for development/testing and when game will be released we all will be able to have fun instead of ton of frustration.

@ArturroK
I must say, from the perspective of a mostly single player gamer, that there wasnt any problems with that part from the beginning. Also Crysis 2 didnt seem to be that it would be that big multiplayer hit like Battlefield 3 or COD or whatever. Remembering what Crytek tried with Cryisis MP and Crysis wars (which were just plain Battlefield with Nanosuits clones), i didnt really expect anything outstanding. And dont get me wrong with this one... i had my fun with the MP from all of these games and Crysis 2 also, but i knew that the lack of support and the clear "singleplayer" focus that crytek always had, would repress the multiplayerpart. I knew that it would become as unimportant in e-sports as it actually is today. So dont get your expectations sky high for Crysis 3 Mulitplayer... for me Crytek is a real master for singleplayer experiences but they just dont have the endurance to constantly run and support a huge multiplayer title.

A lot of Crysis 2's problems were due to time constraints, i.e. EA. With Crysis 2's respectable sales and established console fanbase, they'll almost certainly back off a bit, let Crytek take some time making Crysis 3 special. I mean, if EA were being as pushy as last time, C3 would be down as a 2012 release.
Just my 2 cents.

They were developing their engine in the time-schedule to make their game. Of course things are glitchy. I think they will polish and enhance the feeling of the game and trying to satisfy both PC and Xbox360/PS3.

It's nothing to do with PC elitism, it's the simple fact that developing for PC and porting to consoles, rather than vice versa, ensures a quality game for all platforms
