Post subject: Crysis 2 doesn't detect my GTX 680
PostPosted: 06 08, 2012 /08:51

For some reason Crysis 2 doesn't detect my graphics card! I have no idea why.
First thing I did today when I got the game was see if my drivers were out of date.
I currently have 301.10. The newest version recently posted is 301.42. So I downloaded it, and the installed failed. I downloaded it 2 more times, and it kept failing... Yes, I'm sure I'm downloading for the right video card... I looked it up and I hear a lot of people are getting it too. Also, this is an update that was only recently released, I'm pretty sure Crysis worked on this video card before...
So, not only does Crysis do a pop up error that it can't detect my video card saying,

"unsupported video card detected! Continuing to run might lead to unexpected resuts or crashes
. Please check the anual for further information on hardware requirements.
'NVIDIA GeForce GTX 680' [vendor id = 0x10de, device id = 0x1180]'"

But also, after downloading the patch, downloading the high res tex maps, downloading the direct x11 thingy, and also verifying that I have direct x11 installed on my computer, the error still comes up.
furthermore, when I click ok, and launch it anyway with the error, the high res textures wont load...
It's very annoying. I didn't purchase such an expensive machine, to not be able to play this game on the absolute best settings lol. And I practically refuse to play the game for the first time, until I get this figured out.

My system specs.
i7-3930K CPU @ 3.20GHz --- overclocked to 4.6 ghz
7 Ultimate Edition Service Pack 1 (build 7601), 64-bit
GeForce GTX 680 2gb
64 GB memory

So... I took a look at the log, and saw a boat load of errors. Any Ideas?

Couple questions:

1. In device manager, does the display adapters throw any kind of error?
2. When you install the newest driver, did you do a clean install? (Select custom, check everything, and then check clean installation. This is in the Nvidia installer.)

If you have any type of hardware monitoring or optimization software in the background, disable it temporarily. Better still, do as clean a reboot as you can.

ok Guys. my driver is ok. and no I have the gtx 680 msi afterburner. this afternoon I disconnected my computer to ma tv screen (32") for connect it on my 24" computer screen. after that I tried to install maldoho mod. and now the game start without the error graphic carte...

BUT : the game is no smooth at all (wich is a shame with a gtx 680, an I5 3570k, a SSd and 8 giga ram). and I can run the maldohod mod with the blackfire 2 mod et quality mod : "BlackFire TOD and QMod options says "Integration is not available yet".

so, please...how all of this happened and what am I suppose to do for having a stable game with a completed Maldohod mod ?

(sorry for my English)

How does the game run when it's fresh installed (without any modes)?

I've just tried the Cryengine 3 map forest. and when I lanch the game I have the same error message than Crysis 2 :

" unsupported video card detected! Continuing to run might lead to unexpected resuts or crashes
. Please check the anual for further information on hardware requirements.
'NVIDIA GeForce GTX 680' [vendor id = 0x10de, device id = 0x1180]'"

seriously what's wrong with my card ? is it broken or something else ?
