Post subject: So...Will we be playing as Prophet or Alcatraz? Posted: 05 09, 2012 /01:35 |

WARNING: Spoiler alert if you haven't played Crysis 2
Ok i've seen several posts saying "didn't you play C2, prophet is dead, he shot himself" yet the official crytek description of crysis 3 says we will be playing as Prophet. Yes i've heard the "prophet's mind is part of the suit but it's physically alcatraz, blah blah". So i just got done playing C2 campaign again and correct me if i'm wrong but at the very end of the game doesn't Alcatraz die?? He jumped into the big spear then he goes to the "afterlife" and Prophet says, and i quote "Hey, Dead Man" So Prophet dies at the beginning of C2, Alcatraz dies at the end of C2, they're both in the afterlife (whatever you want to call it)......Why can't it "physically" be prophet that comes back at the end and physically speaks "They call me Prophet".? Wouldn't it physically have to be Prophet's vocal cords to say that at the end? This has been bugging me lately but i have yet to here a good explanation of why its impossible to physically be Prophet in C3.

Nope. The voice is prophet's because Alcatraz's vocal cords are damaged, and the suit has a voice synthesizer. That is what you hear. Also no, that is Alcatraz being knocked out and unconscious when you see Prophet. And when he says ," Hey there, dead man." He means your body is dead(technically) because you can't live without the suit.

But if you say he's knocked out, then why would Prophet be talking to him in real time, and not like a flash back like all the other times. Now look at this quote from the Creative director of Crysis 3: "Hojengaard went on to explain that Prophet’s transformation from hunted to hunter goes beyond simple mechanics. Prophet is also on the hunt to find out more about his dark and sordid past, and, most likely, the “good explanation to why he’s back” after having tried to kill himself in the previous installment."
Key word there being "TRIED" to kill himself. (meaning unsuccessful attempt)

Okay, take out a pen and paper people, pay Attention!
The suit is alive, like its a Slimy living breathing alien, the game says it multiple times, "symbiotic" meaning between Alcatraz and the suit, its a mutual symbiosis, the suit needs a nervous system to operate, and the host needs... well in Alcatraz's case, to stay Alive, and in prophets, to be a badass.
In the C2, you get "flashbacks" but in fact are memories, by that i mean you are slowly downloading Prophet, until... you download enough that you in fact believe you are prophet!
No really, the memories are a clear advisement that your merging consciousnesses with prophet, the suit has its own consciousnesses, as Alcatraz puts it, SECOND, the state of mind of the suit, As evidence that i bring, think this one over slowley... "Maximum Armor, Cloak Engaged, Nanovision Enabled" This is actually prophets voice, as proof, the last words you ever hear from the game before cutscene is, "This is it marine finish what i started"... Now why oh why would the suit be saying that? Thats right, because the suit is prophet, and prophet is the suit.
In short you are Alcaprophet with the exception of its not so much merging, but shared, it is in fact Alcatraz's Body, but with prophets mind, for crysis 3.
!!!SPOILER!!!! The suit nom noms on your delicious insides. to repair any damage done to the body oh say, getting shot? One of the main reasons why you cant speak is... as the game progresses, no lungs, no heart, no liver, no insides, no synapses, why else do you think when Hargreaves tricks you with an EMP, you stay Alive? An the lazers trying to remove the suit from, well... your cold dead body.
Ask away if you want to know moar.

If you played Crysis 2 from beginning to end then you know who you are in Crysis 3. Some say there are no stupid questions, but this thread's question is a little............I'll stop. I think you get it.

Prophets mind is in the nanosuit, his body died but his mind dit not, that was copied into the nanosuit. When alcatraz got in the suit their personalities start to merge. In the end of crysis 2 prophets mind has taken over but Alcatraz is still there to.
When you read crysis legion youll see that Alcatraz refers to himself as Prophet even though he is aware that he isnt Prophet. There is also a research report in the book that describes how cognitive processes seem to be increasingly ofloaded into the Suits Biochip, some cognitive processes are placed in alcatraz mind and some in the nanosuit. Furhtermore it states that they can no longer see the nanosuit and its wearer as seperate entities. And since the Suit seems to be taking over the cognitive processes and Prophet minds is in the suit AND there is about 20 years between crysis 2 and 3 i think its safe to say by that time Prophets mind will have taken over completely.
Really guys read the book it explains in so much more detail

Really guys read the book it explains in so much more detail I don't like the book because it doesn't follow the game exactly. It is full of good canon info though.

You have it backwards, the game doesn't follow the book exactly, the book is right, it even tells you what Alcatraz actually does when he jumps at the end of the game, game side, he blanks out, book side, its time to jam my giant fist in the ceph's spores a$s... literally.
