Post subject: Cryengine 2 vs Cryengine 3, the way I see it Posted: 01 15, 2012 /09:32 |

I don't know if people are over this already but I still hear a lot of complaints about how "cryengine 2 is better than cryengine 3".
Here are my views on it:
Cryengine 2 is better than Cryengine 3 in only these ways:
1.Textures I think Crytek tried a bit harder to make good, realistic looking textures in Cryengine 2 than in Cryengine 3
2.Fire and smoke effects/explosions I think the fire/explosions in Cryengine 2 looked a bit more believable, I still like the fire/explosions in Cryengine 3 though. The smoke and effects looked better in Cryengine 2 and thats a fact.
3.Volmetric Clouds
4.Vegetation
Cryengine 3 did better in everything else
Again, I don't know if people are over this, but I just wanted to share my thoughts

Are you comparing Crysis 2 to Crysis 1 or Cryengine 3 to Cryengine 2? You do realise just because Crysis 2 is on the Cryengine 3 it doesn't sum up the Cryengine 3 in its entirety. In my opinion Cryengine 3 is better in every way. How can it not be better? It is essentially the Cryengine 2 with added improvements...

Cryengine 3 can do everything Cryengine 2 can do. Note that I said *can*, doesn't mean that CE3 was completely utilized to its full potential

I would be quiet about things if I couldn't understand them... but that's just me.
If they did some oldschool style game with CE3, would you still compare it to Crysis1 and assume that CE2 is better than CE3? You're just doing wrong comparison there.
