Post subject: awful cutscene lag and stutter after dx 11 + patch 1.9 Posted: 07 16, 2011 /08:35 |

Hi all
HAving bought to many games recently I have only just got round to starting Crysis 2. I had previously played it for about five minutes and it had been patched to 1.4. When I loaded the game it automatically patched and I was given the option of DX11 and high res packs. This I liked!
I have the following system
os - win 7 64bit cpu - core i7 950 3.06 gpu - 2 x 570 gtx sli mb - rampage 2 extreme ram 8 gig - ocz blade hd - wd raptor 10000 rpm psu - 1000watts
When I started the game I found that all the cutscenes when viewed in game were suffering form awful audio lag despite not having any significant performance drop in game with all settings on full. Weirdly when I watch the video's in the extras section of the menu this lag doesn't occur. These problems did not ocur before therecent updates to the game.
Anyone have any ideas?

Sorry but terminal meltdown you are wrong on this one, applelover your system CAN handle it, this is a glitch that only a few people including myself seem to have. Every cutscene stutters horribly but gameplay is pretty smooth. There is no fix yet unfortunetly, I just skipped all of them since they don't give you any useful information anyway.

This issue is caused by my frameframes being capped at 24 when i have vsync turned on. I solved it by turning off vsync in the game and forcing vsync and triple buffering using a program called D3D overrider which comes with guru3d's rivatuner. My framerates and cut scenes are now completely fixed.

I also have this same issue. Has anyone come up with a plausible solution as to why the cutscenes are choppy when your system meets the specs required...?? I cannot find an answer anywhere in the forums or the web...
I read someone talking about v-sync... tried it and failed... any other suggestions?

Don't mean to bring back an older thread, but I also have this problem...the scenes play fine in the menu, but start to stutter terribly in-game...
Did anyone ever find a fix for this?
I just bought the game on Origin, and the game rocks, but these cutscenes stuttering is just ruining the experience...

Use the Nvidia settings(green icon in the taskbar) to force Crysis 2(application, not global tab) to use triple buffer and vertical sync. This fixed the issue for me.

Yes, triple buffering works wonders. The nVidia drivers were updated not too long ago so that this feature actually worked properly with C2... I havent tried it, since I haven't played the singleplayer since then. For those with other cards or older drivers experiencing this issue, the D3DOverrider tool forces true triple buffering and did the trick for me. Amazing difference. ("D3DOverrider" is a standalone utility in the RivaTuner package...)
