I am well pleased with what you have made. I am as a PC gamer incredibly dissapointed about certain technical aspects. C'mon Crytek. You are PC gamers that started out making absolute high end code for the pc. At which point did one of you decide that the rest of us probably wouldnt like to mess around with the settings to our liking? low res textures? My mind is boggled. Also I am getting a bit tired of the AI that seems to shift from 'not too bright' to 'haves superpowers and can shoot through bunker walls'. Multiplayer is broken, is obvious, because of cheaters. So thats a lot of complaints in a text that start out sayin that I am pleased. But I am. I am well entertained even with all the obvious flaws and thats an accomplishment on your part.
The reason you could go straight to console with succes is that we made the footwork for you through 4 years. We were the ones who used your game to show our console playing friends exactly what gaming should look like and every hardware testing site included one of the earlier games as a default benchmark. Crysis was a big name to console players allready because it was our communitys favorite brand of facerub. The piracy numbers are obviously devastating, but atleast 1 million people still forked up. Dont ever treat the community that 'made' you like this ever again. We dont deserve it.
Also I have to say that what you have done with DX9 is amazing! I did not notice it untill I actually read it was dx9. Or perhaps it shows that with the exception of tesselation the newer Dx's arent all they are cracked up to be. I dont know.
I would like to end with reminding people that Bethesda removed the much loved editor from Fallout since they are brought up again and again as a company that pleases their fans. I think they were undecided whether to include it since "DLC" is the new black and all the kids want in on it which is hard when modders who work for free often do better work than they try to earn money on. There was an outcry from the modding community and the editor was released promptly (yay bethesda!). But I think they would have eventually, they just wanted to get a chance to make their DLC first. completely reasonable from a business perspective.. Is it set in stone that no editor will come for Crysis 2 after a while, or is it all speculation that now has its own life in the internet echochamber? what are the facts?
